The Motorola Razr 50s is set to launch on September 27
Japanese carrier SoftBank has quietly introduced a new foldable phone, the Moto Razr 50s. While this model is marketed as a new release, it appears to be a local variant of the Moto Razr 50, which has been available globally since June. The official launch in Japan is set for September 27, 2024.
Display and Design
The Moto Razr 50s features a 6.9-inch OLED inner display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,640 pixels, alongside a 3.6-inch OLED cover display with a nearly square resolution of 1,056 x 1,066 pixels. The device is rated IPX8 for water resistance, offering protection against water immersion, and making it durable for everyday use.
Performance and Software
Razr 50s is powered by the Dimensity 7300X chipset, supported by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The phone comes with Android 14 pre-installed, providing users with the latest Android features and optimizations straight out of the box.
Camera Setup
The Moto Razr 50s features three cameras: a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP front-facing selfie camera. The design seamlessly integrates the selfie camera into the display with a punch-hole, maintaining a sleek look.
Battery and Charging
The device has a 4,200mAh battery that charges quickly via USB-C in just 58 minutes. It also supports wireless charging with the Qi standard, providing convenient charging options.
Connectivity Features
The Moto Razr 50s provides strong connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX-HD, LDAC, LHDC, and LC3 codecs for high-quality audio. It supports 5G with both SIM and eSIM, offering download speeds up to 2.1Gbps and upload speeds up to 113Mbps. However, it does not support the Japanese 1seg digital TV standard.
Price and Payment Options
SoftBank offers the Moto Razr 50s for JPY 115,200, approximately $800. Flexible payment plans are available for up to 49 months with 0% interest. Customers can pay as little as 3 yen per month for the first 12 installments, making it more affordable.
